Week of Electro Part 3: Skrillex

I saved a very special entry for part 3 of the Week of Electro, Skrillex. Skrillex started out as a side project of ‘Sonny’ John Moore who used to be the front man for the punk/hardcore band named From First to Last. After trying out some other music, hes released a kick-ass EP and DJs regularly around the LA area.
So let me put this in some more interesting language: This dude comes from a background completely separate from the Electro genre, even techno, and f***ing NAILS IT. Seriously, once you listen you would think this guy had been DJing his whole life. The styling, the layering, the buildup and breakdown, everything is insanely tight. His sound is a fun mix of electro and heavy dubstep. Without further ado, lets take a look

The best way to describe Skrillex is to play this song. A grimy yet sophisticated buildup that adds progressively more and more levels, syllable melded vocals to set the mood, and then a drop that will seriously have you jumping out of your seat rocking out. Definitely a party song
This is a really good example of the fun you can have with syllable melding and vocal manipulation. The opening is pretty so-so but when you hear the drop fade in you can really feel the energy building and then explode
Most dub listeners probably wouldn’t say this is true dubstep but it sure is heavy hitting and dirty in an awesome way
Skrillex can really hit the chill mood too. Cool and groovy
And how about some remixes?——————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
Lady Gaga with a hard hitting complex beat? Hell yeah. I love what he does with the vocals
A true dubstep remix of a Skrillex original. A sound to behold
